Senior Housing

The Brook Assisted Living
Roscommon, Michigan

Spacious and functional interior spaces are the words most often used to describe these living units. The picnic areas, parking, walkways, building entries, meeting room, community kitchen and laundry are easily and conveniently accessible to the elderly and sometimes physically handicapped tenants.

The residents take pride in their housing and in many cases have personalized the entries to their units, as well as their patios, just as one might do when living in a typical detached home. It is gratifying to see the residents of The Brook consider this their “home” and not just the place that they sleep.

Bedford Village
Bedford Township, Michigan

This successful senior housing community was the result of a community desire and the successful selection of a multi-family developer who created an attractively designed turn-key senior community. The developer was responsible for site planning, building design, construction drawings and ultimate construction. One of the predecessor firms of Dorchen/Martin Associates, Inc. acted as the consulting architect for this attractively successful senior community nestled harmoniously into Bedford Township.

The Farmers Home Administration (FmHA) program provides Federal funding for projects in rural areas. Ranging from single and multiple family housing - including senior housing to municipal improvements – Dorchen/Martin Associates, Inc. has designed more than seventy structures meeting the requirements and intent of the FmHA. DMA has planned many "family" and "seniors" oriented one and two story developments. A three story apartment building in L’Anse, Michigan, a volunteer fire station in Tawas, Michigan, a township hall/fire station in Whitney Twp., Michigan, attached single family units in Corunna, Michigan and a variety of multifamily buildings from Grand Marais in the upper peninsula to Camden near the Ohio/Indiana border paint the DMA/FmHA picture.
