 Modell
Residence
Bay Harbor, Michigan
The very exclusive Bay Harbor Resort development presented many design
limitations as a part of its deed restrictions. Traditional styles such
as Craftsman, Shingle and Victorian were provided as choices. The very
steeply sloping site - close to sixty feet from the road to the Little
Traverse Bay shoreline - provided the expected difficulties which were
offset by the extremely dramatic views afforded to the three levels of
living space. |

Residence
Texas Township, Michigan
Perched on a grassy knoll overlooking a mature vineyard, this country
farmhouse style residence answers the client’s request for a design
that blends with the surrounding rural setting.
The variety of living levels allows the home to nestle into the
hillside. The wrap around covered and screened porch is consistent with
the styling of the house and provides protected outdoor living spaces
adjacent to the spacious high ceiling great room.

Rubin
Residence
Village of Franklin, Michigan
The owners of this comfortable Cape Cod home, nestled on a wooded two
and one-half acre site in Franklin Village, envisioned an addition to
their home which would allow both family and friends to more comfortably
enjoy each other as well as showcase the owners' extensive collection of
antiques.
The final design solution achieved this and much more. Situated among
the treetops, an upper level master suite was added, complete with
kitchenette, whirlpool spa, natural fireplace and private balcony. A
spacious living room and cherry paneled library and foyer grace the
entry level. Finally, descending a staircase, one enters a lower level
Stone Room complete with bar, games and natural stone fireplace.
Mindful of the owners' wishes to have the 3000 sf addition blend into
the home's existing character, we designed for success . . . and we are
proud of the magnificent results.

Sehn
Residence
Rose City, Michigan
This energetic and active "retired" client requested
Dorchen/Martin Associates, Inc. to create two additions to an existing
one story factory built house. One addition was to satisfy the more
sophisticated needs of adult entertaining with a master bedroom suite
allowing privacy, yet having an open relationship to the available view.
The second addition was to be a dormitory - built over a portion of the
existing house - to provide sleeping quarters for a large and growing
number of grandchildren. This dormitory floor is reached by a stair
built into a tower having a third floor lookout with a grand view of all
265 acres of meadow, woods and artesian well-fed ponds.
